The lowest pay permitted by law: National Council of State favors N27,000





The National Council of State has endorsed N27,000 as the lowest pay permitted by law for the nation. The chamber affirmed the sum at its gathering in Abuja on Tuesday.







President Muhammadu Buhari and previous heads of state at the National Council of State meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, January 22, 2019. Following the Council's endorsement, a lowest pay permitted by law bill is relied upon to be sent to the National Assembly on Wednesday.





As per the Minister of Labor and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, the Federal Government is topping the endorsed sum by N3,000 to 30,000 for its specialists. He said the states are at freedom to expand the new understanding as they see fit. The sum affirmed by the Council of State is N3,000 shy of the N30,000 that the Tripartite Committee on Review of National Minimum Wage prescribed.
